All in a Gap-Year

All in a Gap-Year

This year has been an amazing year… I could just leave that statement there, and it would be completely true, but it’s better to expand on it to further explain  why this year has been so good. Joanna and Nobandile have finished their gap-year with us (no, the fact that they have finished isn’t what is good, it’s what they’ve accomplished during their year which is brilliant).  Whilst being based at Trafford YFC, they have grown so much in their confidence to share and deliver the Gospel, in their lesson presentation skills, and they have grown spiritually too.  We have been blessed to share their gap-year with them, and are quite sad to see them leave.  We hope that they both come back to visit while they’re at Uni (Joanna is off to Durham to study Theology, and Nobandile is going to study Sports Science down in Kent), and wish them both the very best in their futures.  It would be wonderful, if when they finish their respective courses,...

NOMAD are coming to Trafford

On Sunday 25th June, Trafford YFC are being joined by NOMAD – a cage football team, teaching football skills whilst sharing their faith.  The team of four have a jam-packed week of taking lessons in local Primary and Secondary schools, as well as attending several evening events at local churches. Throughout their week they’ll be working in/with Ashton-on-Mersey High School, Broadoak School, Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College, St. Mary’s Primary School, Wellacre Academy, Altrincham Baptist Church, Sale West Community Centre, St. Alban’s Church, St. Mary Magdalene’s Church, the Methodist Circuit, and of course, Trafford YFC. During the day on Saturday 1st July, they will be running an open event just outside our office (The Church Hall, Lindsell Road. WA14 5NX).  As they are only here in Trafford for a short while, we’d love for you to come along and see them in action, and maybe even have a go in the cage while you’re here! 😉  We are inviting all of the young people we meet throughout the week, as well as other youthworkers, teachers, church leaders, etc. so it should be a bustling event. You can...

A girl went to bank some cheques for work, and did something amazing while she was there

Joanna went to the bank to pay in some cheques for work, and while she was there she also took in a £10 note.  She started by simply exchanging the £10 note for two £5 notes, but when she left the bank, that’s where things got really interesting. She had heard about people giving the first of their new £5 notes to charity (using the #FirstFiver hashtag), and wanted to do the same.  She made sure that she got at least one of the new £5 notes, and went straight to Trafford YFC, a local youth-work charity, firmly placing her new £5 note into hands of one of the staff-workers, who deposited it directly into one of their collection pots. Trafford YFC (Youth for Christ) is a Christian charity working within Trafford.  They aim to “Take the Good News relevantly to EVERY young person in Trafford” and do so through lessons, lunch-clubs, and detached work.  Trafford YFC is a local charity that is part of a National organisation.  It isn’t funded...
