All in a Gap-Year

All in a Gap-Year

This year has been an amazing year… I could just leave that statement there, and it would be completely true, but it’s better to expand on it to further explain  why this year has been so good. Joanna and Nobandile have finished their gap-year with us (no, the fact that they have finished isn’t what is good, it’s what they’ve accomplished during their year which is brilliant).  Whilst being based at Trafford YFC, they have grown so much in their confidence to share and deliver the Gospel, in their lesson presentation skills, and they have grown spiritually too.  We have been blessed to share their gap-year with them, and are quite sad to see them leave.  We hope that they both come back to visit while they’re at Uni (Joanna is off to Durham to study Theology, and Nobandile is going to study Sports Science down in Kent), and wish them both the very best in their futures.  It would be wonderful, if when they finish their respective courses,...

#ChallengeDave #CDM10k

#ChallengeDave #CDM10k

Dave has set himself some challenges over the past few years.  Most notably, there was ‘Challenge Dave [Food]‘ where he had to eat peculiar food items depending on how much he raised. This year, Dave has committed to running the Morrisons Manchester 10k.  He ran the 10 kilometre course in Manchester City Centre last year, with a time of 1:16:16 (an average pace of 7:36/km), and he intends to set a new personal best this year, but he’d like your support. There’s a few ways that you could support Dave… Physically:  Dave would love it if you could join him on the day, and run alongside him.  If you think that you’d like to run in the event, please take a look at the official Great Run online entry form and please get in touch with us.  It costs £38 to enter the event (you can claim this back from the sponsorship you raise), and you get a bunch of freebies at the end with a great sense of achievement too.  You can even just...

Resources That TYFC Offer

Resources That TYFC Offer

Whether you’re at school or college, in your church youth-group or friendship group, or you just want to find out more about what it means to be a Christian in today’s world, TYFC offers a wide range of resources to help.  At TYFC, we have access to resources that are aimed at young people from 11 to 21+, and this is just a sample of what we have in store. If you know a young person who is starting out on their Christian journey, we can help introduce Christian values and look at the building blocks of Christianity (using the tried and tested ROCK SOLID or LUMEN materials).  We can help in discussing and tackling the difficult questions that all Christians will have wrestled with at some point too (using the very popular ALPHA course). You may have already made a commitment, and want to take the next step on your journey.  If so, we can look at enabling you with ideas on how to evangelise to your friends (using the METTLE material), or we can help you to explore how...

Free To A Good Home (Donations Welcome)

Free To A Good Home (Donations Welcome)

As you are probably aware, we are currently having our office renovated.  We have acquired some new (to us) desks to go with this new-look office, and so we have some going spare.  If you know anyone who may be interested in picking up a bargain desk, please share this post. We have four desks that we no longer need, but rather than just dumping them at the tip, we thought we’d see if anyone could make use of them first.  They’re all in good(ish) condition, and it would be a shame to throw them all away.  We are still using two of them until we move back into the office, but for now here’s the other two: Small 2-Drawer Desk (Approx. size: 4’x2′)   Large 3-Drawer Desk (Approx. size: 5’x2’6″)   Both desks have lockable drawer units, but no keys (I’m informed that it’s pretty easy to order keys to be cut if needed). If you’re interested in either of these (or would like to come and see the other...
