Dave has set himself some challenges over the past few years. Most notably, there was ‘Challenge Dave [Food]‘ where he had to eat peculiar food items depending on how much he raised.
This year, Dave has committed to running the Morrisons Manchester 10k. He ran the 10 kilometre course in Manchester City Centre last year, with a time of 1:16:16 (an average pace of 7:36/km), and he intends to set a new personal best this year, but he’d like your support.
There’s a few ways that you could support Dave…
Physically: Dave would love it if you could join him on the day, and run alongside him. If you think that you’d like to run in the event, please take a look at the official Great Run online entry form and please get in touch with us. It costs £38 to enter the event (you can claim this back from the sponsorship you raise), and you get a bunch of freebies at the end with a great sense of achievement too. You can even just turn up on the day, and not run. It would be great to give support by being part of the crowd, cheering on as Dave (& thousands of others) run to raise money for all sorts of charities.
Prayerfully: Dave knows that he couldn’t do it without God giving him the motivation to keep going. Please pray for him as he trains, and tries to stay away from the pizzas, on the run up to the event. You can follow Dave’s progress by using the hashtags #ChallengeTYFC, #ChallengeDave or #CDM10k. You can even cheer him on during his training (& on the day) by visiting his Runtastic page.
Phinancially: (ok, so it’s ‘Financially’, but that would ruin the alliteration) Dave is running this race to raise both the profile and the finances of TYFC. Please head on over to his EveryClick fundraising page for a bit more information on how to donate online. You can even text your support to him by texting “TYFC30 £5” to 70070. For more information on Text Giving, visit the JustGiving site. Don’t forget that if you pay tax, you can make your donations go even further by letting TYFC claim the tax back through Gift Aid. If you’re unsure if you’re elegable for us to claim Gift Aid, please get in touch and we’ll try to help you out.
Dave is using the motivation of Paul’s letter to the Church of Corinth (“Only one gets the prize. Run to win!” – 1Cor9:24) to keep pressing on to win young people in Trafford for the Gospel.
